Best answer is 1. This result suggest hypochromic microcytic anaemia, cause includes iron deficiency anaemia, thalasemia and anaemia of chronic disease. In Australia, commonest cause for young healthy individual would be iron deficiency anaemia likely secondary to blood loss.
ReplyDeleteCommence patient on iron therapy is not ideal choice is patient can be thalassemic and commencing iron therapy may result in iron overload. Iron therapy can be commenced once diagnose of iron deficiency has been established.
